Acupuncture
Acupuncture dates back thousands of years, where western Doctors use specific surface pressure points for diagnosis, an acupuncturist will use the same ponts for treatments as well.
This treatment is based on the principle that our energy is distributed to various points on the body and we become ill when these are blocked. It is believed that these points link the nerves with the internal organs. This therapy liberates the blocked energy and restores health by inserting needles into these points and opening them up again.
Acupunture is used to treat a wide range of both physical and mental complaints - the last count by the World Health Organisation was over 100. It has had success in relieving addictions and has also been demonstrated succesfully as an anesthetic during surgery.
Acupuncture is a therapy of choice for those suffering from chronic pain like arthritis, where it compares favourably in many ways with the effects of conventional medical & surgical analgesics.
